Ground-Bearing and Suspended Concrete Slabs

In residential and commercial buildings, a very thick concrete slab is supported on foundations and/or on the subsoil which is used to build the ground flooring of a building. These can be suspended or ground-bearing slabs.

A ground-bearing slab is a resting slab directly on the foundation. Any non-resting is considered as a suspended slab. In a multi-story building, a few common types of suspended concrete slabs are utilized.
